When people in Dera, Ethiopia, are asked about the future, the response often is: "If God is willing, I will be alive."

This attitude need not prevail in this community. Once the basic needs to survive are met, Ethiopians can not only survive but thrive! Individuals in Dera can take their places as leaders and mentors to the upcoming generation. Desperation turns to hope for a successful future. The desire to succeed is strong in Dera and throughout Ethiopia. A hand out is not necessary, just a hand up. Resources and support are the necessary elements for success.

Economic self-sufficiency is the ultimate goal for Dera villagers. All of our progrmas focus on this outcome. The Thrive Together model has been successfully implemented in other African nations for over 8 years. With the necessary resources in place, programs move individuals in the community toward complete self-reliance.
